Often, one of the criticisms of online bingo is that it lacks the social aspect of traditional bingo in the pub or bingo hall. This criticism, of course, usually comes from people who know little or nothing about online bingo. Perhaps the common image of the online bingo player is somebody who sits alone at home plugging away at online bingo games because of a lack of something better to do. This image couldn’t be more false. The fact of the matter is, many online bingo players choose the online alternative because of convenience and the fact that the jackpots are usually bigger. Plus, with online bingo, there’s no need to sacrifice the community usually associated with the world of bingo. Indeed, premier online bingo sites are popular because of the fantastic community of players that visit these sites and the opportunity for new players to interact. You can make new friends from around the world while socializing from home and you don’t have to sacrifice playing your favourite online bingo games.

Make New Friends

The truth of the matter about online bingo is that it’s a fantastic place to make new friends. The pool of players that join online bingo communities is nothing short of massive. At your finger tips you’ll find thousands of fellow gamers who play online bingo and for the most part your traditional bingo hall or pub just cannot compete. Best of all, the communities at online bingo sites are notoriously friendly and there’s a simple reason for this. Imagine the type of people you usually find at your favourite bingo hall. Well, the same players at the bingo hall are playing online bingo. So if you choose to play online bingo this means you have the opportunity to interact with many more people than you would usually have the chance to meet at the pub but you never have to leave your home. More than this, you also have an opportunity to interact with an international community which is impossible at local bingo establishments.

Discover International Bingo

International bingo isn’t exactly what you might be thinking. No, it’s not some new version of bingo that’s just going to confuse you with foreign rules and methods. Instead, the true meaning of international bingo is the fact that for the first time online bingo brings players from around the world together in the bingo community. Many of us enjoy going to bingo establishments because we can meet new people and chat with old friends. Well, the same opportunities await you at online bingo sites only the communities are much larger. In fact, they’re international. If you’ve ever dreamed of traveling abroad but never had the courage because you don’t have any friends outside of your home country, online bingo may be a great opportunity for you to meet people around the world. Or maybe you just want to broaden you cultural perspective. Then online bingo can help you. You can meet players from virtually any country in the world and you can do more than just play bingo together. You can exchange cultural ideals and learn about the world in a way you may never have though possible.

On the other hand, maybe you’re just interested in meeting some decent people and whether they’re from Canada or Cambodia you couldn’t care less. Online bingo sites are a great place to build a community of trustworthy friends from around the world.

Socialize from Home

Perhaps you’re not exactly a social butterfly and you haven’t got many friends. For hundreds of thousands of people just like you, the internet has opened the doors for you to build solid relationships with all sorts of people. Online bingo sites are an excellent place for you to meet and interact with people from the comfort of your own home. Heck, even those of us who are extraverted and enjoy getting out to meet new people, online bingo is still a great place for you. Now, you can socialize from home as well as when you’re out on the town. The party never stops with online bingo as you can play any time of day meaning you can always be socializing even when you’re at home on the couch.

Play Your Favourite Games

It’s great to talk about all the socializing you can do and the community you can build at online bingo sites but let’s not forget the fact that you can still play all your favourite online bingo games. In fact, there’s even more than just bingo on offer at sites like Bingo.com. You can play many varieties of games including video poker, pull tabs, and more. Perhaps what makes online bingo sites so fantastic is the fact that they bring together the best games and the best communities and deliver them into the comfort of your home.

Bingo Tournaments

Tournaments have become one of the most popular forms of playing bingo online. But the real history of bingo tournaments goes back before the personal computer was even dreamed of. The bingo hall, everything we know about bingo, goes back to right about the time the first televisions started making their appearance.

It was in the 1930′s when a Catholic priest from Wilkes-Barre Pennsylvania, on the advice of one of his parishioners, started using the game of bingo to raise money for the failing church. This essentially started the first weekly bingo tournament. There was one problem: Edwin S. Lowe, the man credited for creating modern American bingo, had only created 24 differently numbered cards. With so few combinations the church would have a half-dozen people calling bingo every game.

Lowe was contacted and charged with the task to create a substantial number of unique bingo cards. In order for a bingo tournament to be played by any number of people there would have to be enough bingo cards to accommodate them all. Lowe, a traveling toy salesman, recognized the fundraising potential of this little game he happened upon, and don’t think the profitability of bingo tournaments didn’t slip past him. The help of Carl Leffler, a professor of mathematics at Columbia University, was enlisted.
Now, this was before the time of the computer, so Leffler worked out all these bingo cards by hand. The task got so hard-as more bingo cards were created finding more unique combinations became more difficult-that by the end Lowe was paying Leffler $100 per bingo card, which was a pile of money back then. All in all Leffler came up with 6,000 different possible bingo cards. The historical rumor is that he went insane after the complete the task and spent the rest of his days screaming bingo in a padded room at the mental hospital.

It may not seem like much, but 6,000 bingo cards were enough to get bingo going as a popular fundraiser throughout America, growing the game closer and to the size needed for a good bingo tournament. By 1934 there was a reported 10,000 bingo nights in various places across America. The largest gathering, according to Lowe, was 60,000 people at the Teaneck Armory in New York. Lowe claimed that another 10,000 people were turned away.

Nowadays we do have computers and the number of possible bingo cards is up to 1,474,200. 60,000 people may seem like a lot of bingo players, but imagine how many people could be gathered together for a bingo tournament on the Internet? Probably enough for people to have duplicate bingo cards. What started as a fundraiser with 24 cards is turning into a worldwide tradition. Bingo, online bingo and the bingo tournament are still growing.

How to Succeed at Online Bingo

Online Bingo has rapidly become very, very popular.  As a result, it has become significantly more competitive than many other games, and making a consistent profit from the game can be difficult.  Today we are going to carry on the tips and give you some more direct tips to help you make more online bingo games profitable.

Watch Your Cards – Many online bingo sites don’t have automatic card marking, and because bingo cards can be relatively cheap to buy – there is an incentive their built by the bingo site for you to buy more cards than you can handle.  Remember and only buy so many cards as you can safely mark.  Don’t let yourself get swamped with too many bingo cards.

Become a Part of the Community – We’ve published our chat guide, so now you have absolutely no reason not to be a part of the online bingo community.  Reasons for doing this are because you a) build friends, but more importantly, you can get involved in chat-games which the gambling sites like to run.  Be an active chatter and have a natter It makes things easier and more fun, just don’t chat TOO much that you can’t mark your cards.clip_image001

Look for Quiet Rooms – If you’re having an online bingo session don’t go for the near-full room.  Full rooms are attractive, but if you want bingo pay outs jump into a smaller room with a fewer number of players.  Theoretically less players = more payout for you, but also bear in mind that less players = less chat fun.

Duo Bingo – Carrying on from our first rule, we all know that the more cards you can play = the more times you can win.  Have you ever thought about getting a friend around to play with you?  You can look at 5 cards and they can look at 5 cards, then you’re instantly doubling your chances to win!

Take Regular Breaks – If you take regular breaks from bingo – you’ll be more relaxed, and your mind will work faster.  Aim to have a 10 minute break at least every 40 minutes, and relax doing something other than looking at a computer screen.  Headaches and eye strain are known to occur if you use computers too much.

Have fun – Yes – I know you will have fun, but remember it is only just a game.  Bingo has always been about having fun – and I hope it always will be.  So if you don’t win the jackpot, don’t worry.  There are plenty more games, and if you are managing your money – then you have plenty more chances to win also!

Good Luck
